Global Communication

What is Global communication? Global communication is the collective processes that are developed and used to create and/or improve communication on a worldwide level. It has brought up many effects in the past ten years. Global communication increases information flows and new technologies make the global communication easier and the world smaller. Global communications promoted the globalization witnessed in the past ten years through many effective channels such as new social media and affected the world in culture, economy and information exchange.
Global communication can affect the world in different ways. First of all, it has increased in information flows vastly in the past ten years. With the development of society, people can get all kinds of information from internet and TV. People use Email instead of snail mail, and use webcam instead of telephone. It is convenient to watch television and read Newspaper to know what is going on over the world. Facebook and other new social meida help information spread out faster. For example, on 17th December 2010, twenty- six year old Mohamed Bouazizi doused himself with a flammable liquid and set himself on fire in the provincial headquarters in Tunisian. He operated a purportedly unlicensed vegetable cart and a police woman confiscated his cart and produce. He tried to pay 10- dinar fine but the policewoman slapped him, spat in his face, and insulted his deceased father. Bouazizi went to the provincial headquarters in an attempt to complain to local municipality officials but he was refused. Frustrated Mohamed finally decided to sacrifice his life, as a shocking protest to the government. . This incident was dispersed by social media such as Facebook and YouTube which caused extensive attention world widely. The incident eventually led to the ousting of longtime President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. This revolution showed us the power of new social media and the affect it bring to the world.
Second, Global communication has affected the world in culture. It influenced the use of language across the world. Countries learn new technologies from other countries. People also enjoy foreign product and ideas. It is not hard to see foreign restaurant on the street. More and more people are willing to try different kinds of food and learn different cultures. There are courses being developed about global history and global art. Some people choose to study aboard because they want to learn different culture. There are also increasing international travel and tourism around the world.
Third, Global communication has affected the world economy.  Exchange of goods and capital worldwide promotes economic growth by providing a wider variety of goods. People enjoy foreign product and the quality of goods are guaranteed. On the other side, domestic industries also need to upgrade their products and use cutting edge technology due to the competition worldwide.
Global communication can affect the world in different ways. It promotes economy in many countries, improves people's standard of living and increases information flows. Even though global communication can bring so much information and many advantages, there are still some disadvantages. It is better to avoid the disadvantages and use the advantages to enrich our life.
